Balor had left his most trusted friend in charge of the clan in his absence and when the bodies were found he was named clan leader. A funeral of sorts was held for the dead and missing. It was at this ceremony that Eschel was delivered by Hugin and Munin to the clan. Though beautiful in its crafting the weapon seemed somehow less pristine than expected, almost as if it had been used in a savage fight. This day; Rangdod became memorialized and celebrated every year as other clans honored it as well.
The clan was renowned for their combat prowess their skalds were able to inspire as if they learned verses from Odin himself. As one of the greatest warrior clans they were settled at the edge of varl territory, to their north were the great wastes that the dredge came from and to the east was the nation of the Calaquendi elves, and to the west was the Darlig-ulv ocean. The Balor lands included a few small hunting villages as well as Thundersnow Keep a mighty fortress carved into Taran Mountain.
Many of Clan Balor became skalds themselves in an effort to honor their namesake. Even those that don’t still learn the songs of battle and the great war chants that strike fear even in the dredge. All clan members are trained how to fight with either a spear or an axe and most choose to learn both. A special place is held for those who can use both equally well, called a Forer these individuals are often chosen to be the leaders of small warbands known as Stommfal. Forer are taught by skalds how to lead special war chants so that they can inspire ferocity in their warriors.
Over many generations the clans constant call to war began to thin their numbers. The last chieftain of the clan was Ivar Balor. He was ordered by the varl king to bring his full clan to the fields of Hithlum for a great battle with the elves against the dredge. Not one to shirk his duties Ivar obeyed. That is the last time he was seen. The clan took such heavy losses that only a handful survived and they were assimilated by other clans. As a result of this Clan Balor lands were split up among a few other clans as well. The Stonebear Clan were given control of Thundersnow Keep.
